Miss Conception’s Resident Comfort Fund
Miss Conception began fundraising for Fife House in September of 2009. Since then she has raised more than $1,500. The Miss Conception Resident Comfort Fund was created in September of 2011, and she was presented with a plaque to commemorate her contributions and ongoing support of Fife House and the work that we do. This specialty fund assists residents in the Transitional Housing Program (THP) and Sherbourne Apartments with unusual expenses not covered through other resources. These can include, but are not limited to:
- Fresh-Start Kits, containing basic necessities for clients moving from the THP into their own apartments.
- Double-Size Mattresses
- Medications that aren’t covered by other programs, such as ODSP
- Assisting residents to reconnect with family
- Funds loaned to residents to prevent loss of telephone, hydro and internet and to assist residents with rental arrears.
Contributions to date have come from proceeds of Miss Conception’s shows at Woody’s, where she continues to perform every Sunday (May to December) .
